Harris and Me Chapter Summaries
Chapters 1 - 4 (already read) The narrator's parents drink too much, so he's rotated out to different relatives. The summer he's eleven, a deputy takes him way out to the Larson place - home of Knute, Clair, fourteen-year-old Glennis, and nine-year-old Harris. Harris is always swearing, and Glennis is always whacking him for it. The next morning, the boy meets Louie, a filthy ranch hand, and the fastest eater the boy has ever seen. He goes to the barn where Vivian, a cow, knocks him out with a kick. Later, the boys are attacked by Ernie, a vicious rooster. Harris tricks the boy into separating the milk from the cream, a tiring process. Lunch is followed by hitching up huge horses, Bill and Bob to go mowing. Buzzer, Louie's large cat comes along. They catch mice to give to Louie, but the boy has to share his with Buzzer. And that is just the narrator's first day on the farm!

Chapter 1-4 Wow. Gary is just getting use to the family, but at the same time he knows the family too well.
ReplyDeleteChapter 1-4, Gary's parents are Drug Addicts. So, Gary can't live with them. Gary meets his new temporary family, the Larsons. The one that stands out is Harris. He gets to work right away on the farm.
ReplyDeleteChapter 1-4, Gary's parents were drug addicts so Gary can't live with them. He then rotated with different relatives and then lived with the Larson's .
ReplyDeleteI like and agree with Morgan G said! Nice job!!
ReplyDeleteChapter 1-4, Gary's parents are drug addicts so he couldn't live with them. He was rotated all over the place. This summer he stayed with the Larson's. Many bad things happen in the first couple of days. He gets there and meets Harris. Then he gets kicked by a cow (Vivian), attacked by rooster (Ernie), and meets disgusting old Louie.
ReplyDeleteGary arrives at the farm and meets Clair, Glennis, Knute, Louie, and Harris. He finds out that they eat a lot and Louie has an interesting way of eating.
ReplyDeleteI think its a good thing he got to go and live with the larsons. He learned the stability of family and how to work with family.
ReplyDeleteThe story was good, but I would change the Tarzan leap because it would be more interesting doing things another way.
ReplyDeleteChapters 1-4
ReplyDeleteGary's parents are heavy drinkers, so they move him around through his relatives. He gets 'shipped' to the Larsons, where he meets Harris. Gary learns what to do, what not to do, and not to always trust Harris.
Gary leaves his achoholic parents to live with the Larson's. Harris is not ecpecting Gary. But also gary is not expecting how much fun they are going to have.
ReplyDelete@ I think Mark is totally right, without the Larsons, who knows Gary might not of ever known what a real family is like...
